Linda's Thoughts - Goldberg/Brock and Much More Posted by Linda Robin
on 08/22/04 at 9:32 PM This will be my odds and ends column. I have a little bit to say about the following. Some of my topics today are some things that were said in interviews. I also want to talk about TNA’S news schedule and a few rumors that are going around I just can’t ignore. So let me start with two of my very favorite former wrestlers, and when I say my favorite trust me I am being sarcastic.
First, Bill Goldberg did an interview last weeks blasting WWE. That’s something Goldberg seems to specialize in, ripping someone or something that has to do with wrestling. Bill in the interview said that the way WWE treated him was moronic. You know I’m always entertained by Goldberg’s interviews. The man’s ego is bigger then the universe. And when I read that he felt he that his character was handled moronically due to wearing a wig for one segment I just had to laugh. Bill said and I want to Para phrase this that no one wanted to see him with emotions or see him laughing. They wanted to see him ripping heads off the opponents. I don’t agree with that statement at all. Steve Austin was and is as tough as you can get and yet he showed plenty of humor especially with Kurt Angle right alongside of him. And it didn’t take away from Austin’s character in or out of the ring. I feel maybe Bill should have put a lot more into being a part of the WWE family. You know like doing house shows on a regular basis and traveling over seas so that his fans could have a chance to see him in person. But Bill and wrestling really don’t go and I get very tired of him coming off like he gave the business so much. Sure he made things interesting, but by no means will he ever be looked at as a legend or even as a man that put his heart and soul into the business. And it just gets so old with him always bitching about something having to do with wrestling.
And then there’s Brock Football Lesnar. Wrestling put him where he is today, and gave him one hell of a salary. But God for bid during interviews wrestling should be brought up in the same room with Brock. No, Brock refuses to talk about that sport, wrestling was fake he wants the real thing. And even more interesting? He will no longer sign any wrestling memorabilia. He figures that if he doesn’t return to wrestling than what ever he signs will go up on eBay. My God as I said had it not been for “FAKE” wrestling, Brock wouldn’t be with the Minnesota Vikings as we speak. How long he remains with them is another thing but it’s really sad and aggravating that Lesnar has to be such a jerk when it comes to talking about wrestling. You watch he will end up returning to the WWE and when that time comes I hope Brock has to work to make it to the top instead of getting handed to him like he did the first time around.
Yeah I’m a Triple H mark I think most of you know that, but boy what a idiot he is. Did you all read that he pushed for Randy Orton to win that title and become a face so that Randy would fail? Sure this way the fans and the company would be ready for Hunter to win back the title as a heel. Is this one of the most ridiculous rumors you have ever read? Well it is to me, if Hunter wanted that title Hunter could get the title. Pushing Orton only to fail big time is just something so stupid that I can’t believe someone would even start something like that. What else can I say? I think it’s obvious that Randy is capable of being the champion. I didn’t even want to mention tbis because I am such a Hunter fan but how could I just let this one go? It’s funny because it came out last week that the reason for Hunter and Evolution turning on Orton so quickly was to prevent the main stream media from grabbing on to Randy, you know like they did with Rock and Austin. Yeah that’s right, this person that stated this little item said the turn was to prevent this from happening because Hunter didn’t want to Randy succeed. You know why I think they split from Randy? Because the time is right. Instead of building the tension up between Hunter and Randy for a while and taking their feud to Wrestlemania, they caught most of us off guard and got things going immediately.
As I said in Tuesday’s column, it all makes sense to me. Yeah Hunter could pretend to be thrilled with Randy as champion, and when Randy wasn’t around you would see a very bitter Hunter. But now this shows that Randy’s win was just too much for him to take and Randy had to be punished. I cannot see this feud going on all the way until Wrestlemania. I really believe it’s going to be Randy vs. John Cena for that pay per view. So back to the rumor, whether you like Hunter or not you have to admit this stuff is crap nothing more than someone trying to get things going against Hunter. In fact another major site mentioned this and said take this with a grain of salt it’s just coming from someone that wants to make some trouble.
What about this one? Kurt Angle the darling of the internet is becoming the Triple H of Smackdown. At least that’s what the rumors say. And it’s coming out more and more that he’s making a lot of decisions about his character. One rumor claims that Kurt should be given all the credit for the miserable GM character he portrayed. This was the way Angle wanted it. And that Kurt has lobbied for the Luther Reigns push. So could these rumors be true? Sure I see Luther has been Kurt’s right hand man since the GM role was given to Kurt. But is it Kurt’s doing? Or is it coming from Vince.
Here’s my take I have no idea what goes on backstage, but it seems like a lot of internet fans do, or at least they think they do. Just remember one thing. Anyone with a job will do just about anything that can to secure their place with the company they work for. So why a few find it so necessary to harp on the crap backstage I don’t know. All I care about is what I see on TV. And as long as that person is giving their best that’s enough for me.
Finally it’s official September 8th, will be the last Wednesday pay per for TNA. Then TNA will show a collection of the shows greatest moments for the next three consecutive Wednesday. And finally mark your calendar because November 7th Victory Road will be the first Sunday pay per view. Then once a month TNA will put on a three hour pay per view show. From what I’ve read nothing has been scheduled for October so I have no idea what the plans will be. I would love to hear from the fans that watch TNA every Wednesday night. I want to know if this is a better deal for all of you. I know I still will not be ordering the shows because I’m a die hard WWE fan plus it’s expensive enough to order just one WWE pay per view. But my feelings are with these three hour shows once a month, you are going to get a better quality show with longer matches and I would think that the young talent will be showcased a lot more than they are now. So let me hear from you and tell me if you will be ordering these show?
Well I will end on a very emotional note, the Kane and Lita wedding. Okay seriously is this going to come off a lot better than many of us think? I sure hope so. I wonder if Shawn Michaels will stop the wedding just in time, you know like Stone Cold did when he prevented Taker from marrying Stephanie? I just hope this segment doesn’t take up too much time, because we have to see what diva wannabe got the axe. I say it’s Carmella; after all she really got it last week from the other girls. And finally I can’t wait to see how Randy Orton will come off tomorrow. Will he be a full fledged face? Or a cocky tweener? I for one can’t wait to see the show tomorrow night.
