Linda's Thoughts - Carmella/Eddie and More

Talk about a variety of things to discuss. I have three main subjects that I would like to add my two cents in. Today I’m going to talk about a darling diva hopeful that seems to be anything but darling. One of my favorite guys is rumored to be going through a lot of mental anguish which I’m hoping is nothing more than a rumor. And a guy who many have missed since he left is looking to make a reality show with another wrestler. But let me quickly just tell you a little bit about one of the best night I’ve ever had, and no I’m not talking about my wedding night.

Last night I saw my first Metallica concert and I hope it’s just the beginning of more to come. They are magnificent. I knew that they would be outstanding but I think that word is an understatement. I am so lucky that I was there and that I got to see probably one of THE best groups in the world. Not only do these guys perform and give 110%, but they are so fan oriented. They constantly communicate with the fans and get them involved with just about every song they do. I was so impressed to see that. The fans? They were totally awesome. Being that I’m basically out of that age group I kind of thought this group would be a little wild, but they were so engrossed with the group that the little mosh pit that was started only had a handful taking part. The rest just soaked in the music and the guys. Godsmack was the opening act, and they ROCKED. Now I like their music a lot but watching them live is even better than hearing them on the radio. Like Metallica, they are there for fans and they talked to the crowd on a regular basis and just pumped things up so well. The lead singer not only sings, he plays guitar and then joined their drummer for dueling drums. This went on for about 10 minutes or a little longer and it was off the charts. These two guys played so well it was something I wish you all could see. Okay I will stop. If anyone is interested in knowing what songs Metallica played just email me, I’ll be glad to list them for you. Last night was just a night I WILL NEVER FORGET.

Now onto the latest. Our beloved Carmella the girl that the others say makes fun of the wrestlers and puts nothing into being in the contest, put a lot into kicking a rival’s head. A few weeks ago in a police report Carmella was the aggressor and it all had to do with her football boy friend Jeff Garcia. From the report another woman seemed to be a threat to Carmie and Carmella according to eyewitnesses, slapped the woman, then rushed her and then verbally attacked her. She threatened to kill this woman. Now the report was made by the alleged victim but she does have someone that can back it up. This isn’t done yet, as the fight is broken up, the woman leaves and while Carmella is being restrained on a platform she’s able to kick the other woman in the head. Supposedly Carm has known about this woman and has been leaving threatening phone messages. No charges have been made and Carmella’s attorney totally denies the death threats. So it’s a one sided report but there are eyewitnesses.

If this is true, I say it’s time to wave goodbye to Carmella. Now I was backing her for the most part during all of this. But the more you read that she’s supposedly rude backstage and watching her barely go through the motions of what is asked of her, I say it’s time to get rid of her. And while I never thought I would say give it to Christy, who in my opinion is so annoying all the Carmella stuff has changed my mind. I think Christy would basically do anything asked of her and she seems to want this a lot, not that the others don’t but her “enthusiasm” as over powering as it is makes me say she will get my vote. As far as Carmella goes she’s not what WWE needs they have had enough trouble with certain divas from the past and present. I’m just sorry they had Rock come out there last week to plead a case for her; if Vince was smart he would see she’s nothing but trouble.

This next rumor and I’m calling it a rumor upsets me. The word is that Eddie Guerrero is worrying most backstage. He’s showing signs of stress due to financial problems, for his body starting to show signs of age and just plain all the wear and tear it’s taken from the sport, and he is still blaming himself for the low ratings during his WWE title reign. This saddens me so much if it turns out to be true. I’ve said it before the ratings decline wasn’t due to his title reign; it was due to the losses of Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle and even Big Show. Bradshaw was just thrown into the title picture because of this. Eddie never had a chance of defending the title with rematches with Angle and Lesnar. I hate to think that he’s beating himself up over this. The man has come through time and time again. His wrestling is what makes you want to watch him, and his mic work and actions are usually right on. Again if this is true then I would like to see Eddie take some well deserved time off. He could regroup and return refreshed and relaxed. He’s too important for the fans and the company to lose.

So I bet a lot of you miss Steve Austin? Well just today on Gene Simmons website, there’s a small section about Steve going to Simmons pitching a reality series. And the premise? To show Austin and his roommate Diamond Dallas Page living in Hollywood and trying to make it there. You know with so many reality shows out there that are crap I could definitely see this one working. At least with wrestling fans. We could see Austin and DDP in a somewhat natural environment. And watch them carry on with wrestling not really the focus of their lives. With DDP’s charisma and Austin’s in your face honesty I can’t see how this show could miss. I hope Simmons goes for it, I really believe it would be a ratings winner.

Let me end with some upsetting news. Last night one of my readers Wade was kind enough to send me results from his house show in Salt Lake City, Utah. And in it he mentioned that Edge went over the ropes HARD in his match with Chris Jericho. Wade thought his knee took the injury at the time. He saw Edge was in pain and the sign of the X was given. Edge was counted out to end the match giving Jericho the win. I have since read on a site that it might have been Edge’s left hip that got it and that Edge was very worried that this was definitely a serious injury. He refused a stretcher but naturally needed help out. I know I say this a lot but I hate to read about any wrestler hurt and it’s hard to read this when Edge just came back a few months ago after being gone for over a year. Here’s hoping that things aren’t what they appear to be and Edge will maybe need a couple of weeks off to heel. I’ll keep you posted in my Tuesday column if there’s anything new to report.

Okay so tomorrow night Marc Lloyd on Bottom Line said we are going to find out about Lita and Kane’s wedding night. Ah, do we need to really hear about that? Also will Carmella be the diva that was voted off? I say it’s Joy that leaves. And after the spit that got me all wet, I want to see what Evolution has in store for World Champion Randy Orton. I’m sure Hunter will want to rip his head off. Yeah sounds like a pretty good show especially if they add wrestling to it.
