3PW 3/19 ECW Arena results

3PW returned to the ECW Arena in Philadelphia, PA on Saturday March 19 before 150-200 fans.

This appeared to be an evening of promotional re-sets, with no AJ Styles or Christopher Daniels, and no Bill Apter (Apter was at the Wrestling Channel International Showdown). Fans did get to see two new talent to the Philadelphia area (unfortunately not advertised in advance), International Wrestling Cartel/Pittsburgh's IWC Super Indy Champion/former IWC Champion Sterling James Keenan and Dirk Ciglar.

In an interesting side note, attending the show (solely to say hello backstage) was Stevie Richards.

  • CJ O'Doyle pinned the debuting Tommy Suede.

  • The Rockin' Rebel defeated the debuting Dirk Ciglar. Blue Meanie came out and kicked Rebel low, with referee John Finnegan giving him a Stunner.

  • The Blue Meanie pinned Ron Zombie

  • In an excellent match (scheduled this early in the show for inexplicable reasons)...but one with a predictable screwjob finish, given the fact that Ruckus is CZW's World Champion, Homicide vs. Ruckus ended in a double pin when both pinned each other at the same time with a small package.

After intermission, in one of the most interminable segments ever that made a HHH promo on Monday Night RAW seem like a classic Ric Flair-Roddy Piper promo standoff from the glory days of Jim Crockett's Mid-Atlantic Wrestling, 3PW "Co-Commissioner" (insert your own phrase for the usual reason a new character shows up out of nowhere in an independent promotion) Mike Freedom came out wearing a green boa and a giant green hat; and cut an incomprehensible heel promo on the Irish and St. Patricks Day... leading to (who else) CJ O'Doyle coming out and talking smack to him.

Freedom brought out the debuting Caesar Smalls (think son of Abdullah the Butcher, complete with fat wattles down the arms, and moving about as well as Abdullah himself), who CJ O'Doyle defeated by pinfall in an "impromtu match".

  • Simon Diamond pinned Monsta Mack with a Superkick after Talia interfered.

  • Damian Adams pinned Sterling James Keenan in a way too short match

  • 3PW champion Slyck Wagner Brown (with April Hunter) pinned Roadkill in a surprisingly good match. No surprise about Brown...but Roadkill worked what he's capable of and what Terry Funk once said he had potential for.,..even back in his most gimmick-laden ECW days.

3PW returns to the ECW Arena on April 9, running against the ECWA Super Eight.

No-shows included Striker and Ron Eckos
