CZW 4/2 "Trifecta Challenge III" ECW Arena results

Posted by Bob Magee

(Courtesy: PWBTS.com... for Wrestlemania results tonight immediately after the PPV)

CZW returned to the ECW Arena last night for Trifecta Challenge III before a decent crowd, despite horrible downpours in the Philadelphia/New York area that made traveling difficult at best and impossible at worst with flooding expected in the Philadelphia area even today and tonight; flooding which undoubtedly killed most of the walk-up.

Along with the Ring of Honor show and the NCAA Final Four, the crowd... while winding up better than it originally looked...likely wasn't what they were hoping for last night.

Those that didn't come missed a good solid show, with two new stars being made that night from IWA and IWS.

Trifecta Challenge match/CHIKARA bracket
Hallowicked defeated Jigsaw and Jolly Roger

  • Derek Frazier defeated Adam Flash

Post-match, The H8 Club did a run-in and jumped Adam Flash, spike piledriving him from the apron through a table. In some sort of tip of the cap to old school, Adam Flash got a stretcher job (Lord knows that last time that happened in the ECW Arena). DJ Hyde and Jon Dahmer came in for the save, leading directly to the CZW Tag Title match...

  • H8 Club retained their CZW Tag Team Titles, defeating Jon Dahmer and DJ Hyde. Hyde got knocked silly with an ugly hardway chair shot that had him bloody as hell. Dahmer's lucky that he wasn't injured after Gabe and Pain did a spike piledriver that barely caught the table.

Trifecta Challenge match/IWA Mid-South Wrestling bracket
Brandon Thomaselli defeated Josh Abercrombie and Silas Young in an excellent match which gave Philadelphia fans their first looks at Thomaselli and Abercrombie

  • Claudio Castagnoli defeated Sonjay Dutt after interference from Sabian of The Blackout

Trifecta Challenge match/IWA Mid-South Wrestling bracket
Damian defeated Dan Paysan and Viking

This match (and the main event match) made a new star with Damien, who delivered incredibly fast punches and got the crap beaten out of his chest by Viking. After no-selling these chest slaps, that had his chest looking like the aftermatch of an old Flair-Garvin chopping contest, Damien then pulled a psycho spot as he ran his finger up his bloody chest and gave an insane looking smile.

  • In a surprise, Sabian (with The Blackout...who seemed to be getting their heat back in every match they were involved with last night) defeated Mike Quakenbush by clean pinfall to become the new CZW Junior Heavyweight Champion

  • Franky the Mobster defeated Beef Wellington to retain his CZW Iron Man Title

  • Sexxxy Eddy defeated Eddie Kingston after a (deliberately) botched chair spot teasing heat between

    CZW Trifecta Challenge Finals
Brandon Thomaselli defeated Hallowicked , then defeated Damien by pinfall to win the CZW Trifecta Challenge

  • Ruckus defeated B-Boy to retain his CZW Heavyweight Title

CZW returns to the ECW Arena on May 14 for the 16 man "Best of the Best V" tournament, with a special 7:00 pm belltime. Tickets are available now at this link.

Brandon Thomaselli, Ebessan, Kevin Steen, B-Boy, Chris Hero, Derek Frazier, Sonjay Dutt, Super Dragon (and Excalibur, so far unofficially) are announced Best of the Best 5. Dutt, however made a remark to Sabien after the match with Claudio Castagnoli about being in Japan "for a few months", so his presence is a bit unclear, unless he fluffed the promo.
