WWF Unforgiven: 09-23-01

Clips were shown of the Hardy Boyz and Dudley Boyz tag team match from Smackdown. Spike Dudley helped them defeat the Dudleys and then Lance Storm and The Hurricane came out and attacked Spike. After the match, the Dudleys put the Hardyz through a table in the middle of the ring.
To kick off the evening, the crowd stood and Jennifer Holiday sung “America The Beautiful” in the ring. She really belted it out and got a huge pop from the audience.
Clips were then shown of the events leading up to both the WWF Championship and WCW Heavyweight Title matches for Unforgiven.
Match #1: 4 Corners WWF Tag Team Title Match
The Dudleyz vs. The Hardy Boyz vs. Lance Storm & The Hurricane vs. The Big Show & Spike Dudley
Big Show and Buh Buh went at it on the outside as D-Von and Matt Hardy kicked off the match in the ring. D-Von got the upperhand and then tagged in the Hurricane. Hurricane took it to Matt until he finally was able to tag in his brother Jeff, who came right in and went for the pinfall.
Buh Buh went for a cheap shot from the outside, and Jeff kicked him in the mouth and sent him to the outside. Jeff nailed Hurricane with a dropkick and then tagged in Spike Dudley. Storm was then tagged in and he came right in and took it to Spike with a scoop slam. He then tagged Hurricane back in. Spike atomic dropped Helms and then Storm got a blind tag and the partners nailed a huge double team move on Spike.
Storm nailed Spike with a dropkick after an attempted pin and then tagged in Buh Buh. He took a shot at Big Show, who was in his corner and he then went to work on Spike. Him and D-Von nailed Spike and then D-Von tagged in Hurricane. He put on the cape and nailed Spike from the top rope.
Hurricane rolled up Spike and got a 2-count. Storm was then tagged in and he came right in and took it to Spike as well. He nailed him with a jawbreaker, but did not follow up and Spike was able to nail Storm with the Dudley Dog. He finally tagged in Show and the big man came in and knocked down everyone that got in the ring.
Everyone was tossed to the outside and then the Hardyz went for suicide dives over the ropes onto them. Big Show then followed up and tossed Spike with a Gorilla Press slam onto all of them. Show then started to climb the ropes, and Buh Buh attacked him from behind and took him down. Hurricane came in and Show nearly chokeslammed him, but Storm ran in and got the slam instead and his team was eliminated by pinfall.
Spike then stomped away at D-Von and Matt creeped in and rolled him up for a 2-count. Matt then went for the Twist of Fate, but Spike countered and hit the move on Matt. Matt got up and hit the move and pinned Spike to eliminate him and Big Show from the match.
The Dudleyz came right in and took out both Hardyz right away. Buh Buh and Jeff went at it in the ring. Buh Buh got Jeff backed into the corner and stomped away at him as a "We want tables” chant began to erupt from the crowd. D-Von came in and worked over Jeff for a short time and then Buh Buh came back in and took Matt off the apron and then held Jeff down so D-Von could hit the Whazzup Diving Headbutt.
D-Von then followed up and got Jeff in a reverse chinlock on the mat. Jeff broke free and got powerslammed by D-Von and was nearly pinned for three. Buh Buh then took Jeff to the outside and slammed him back first into the steel ring steps. He tossed him back into the ring and D-Von went for the pin, but only got a 2-count.
Buh Buh was tagged back in and he powerslammed Jeff and picked him right up. He began to assault Jeff in the corner. Buh Buh then sent him into the opposite corner and Jeff jumped up and leaped off the top turnbuckle and nailed Buh Buh with a crossbody block. Matt was then tagged in and he took it to D-Von and then got both Dudleyz on the outside and hit both of them with a Moonsault from the top rope.
Matt got D-Von in the ring and nailed him with a legdrop. He went for the 3-count, but Buh Buh got Matt’s feet and pulled him away. The Dudleyz then hit the 3D on Matt, but Jeff made the save on the pin. Buh Buh then hit the Buh Buh Bomb on Matt and D-Von made the pin to retain their Tag Team Titles.
Winner(s): The Dudley Boyz
Stephanie and RVD were shown talking in the backstage area. Stephanie wished RVD luck in beating Chris Jericho and offered her services to him in his match. He said he is a one-man team and needs no help but he did need a lockerroom big enough to hold his superstar status. Stephanie said he could have anyone he could find and he thanked her and left.
Michael Cole then interviewed Kurt Angle’s mother and brother who were in attendance. They said he would win the WWF title because he puts his heart into everything he does and would turn it on for his hometown crowd.
Match #2: Perry Saturn vs. Raven w/ Terri
Saturn came right down and went on a vicious attack on Raven. Raven tried to make his way down the aisle and Saturn caught him and threw him back into the ring. Terri then distracted Perry Saturn as he got back in the ring and this allowed Raven to nail him with a baseball slide. He then slammed Saturn into the steel ring steps.
Raven whipped Saturn into the corner and nailed him with a clothesline and then went for the pin. Raven picked up Saturn and got him in the Cobra Clutch and the ref lifted Saturn’s arm for the count-out, but only got to 2. Raven hit Saturn with a knee lift and sent him out of the ring.
Saturn shoulder blocked Raven as he got back in the ring and then went for the sunset clip over the ropes and nearly got the 3-count. Saturn went for a clothesline and missed and then got Raven in a waistlock and turned it into a Greco-Roman throw. He repeated the move again and then rolled him up for the pin.
Saturn got Raven to the top turnbuckle. Raven pushed Saturn off the ropes and nailed him with a leg drop from the ropes. Raven was then whipped off the ropes and he went for a sunset flip but could not get the 3. Saturn catapulted Raven to the corner and then nailed him with a twisted fisherman suplex and pinned him for the 3-count.
Winner: Perry Saturn
Lillian Garcia interviewed Christian about his match with Edge for the Intercontinental title. She asked if this was all worth ending his relationship with his brother and he said it was. He said that everyone is talking about Kurt Angle capturing the title tonight, but when Unforgiven is written into the record books, it will be remembered as the night Christian defeated his brother for the IC title.
They then showed a series of clips of the events leading up to Christian turning on his brother Edge and the events that led up to the match.
Match #3: Intercontinental Championship Match
Edge vs. Christian
Edge came right in and went to work on his brother Christian. Edge got Christian to the outside and he started to walk out, but Edge dropkicked him from behind and then they fought their way up to the top of the ramp. Edge catapulted Christian into the steel staging and then picked him up by the hair and dragged him back to the ring.
Edge threw Christian right into the turnbuckle pads and then smashed his face into the bottom one with his foot. Christian got up slowly and begged for mercy from Edge. Edge got closer and Christian threw him back into the ringpost and he fell out of the ring. Christian then slammed Edge into the steel ring steps twice.
Christian got Edge back in the ring and stomped him and yelled at him as he did so. Edge started to right back, but Edge nailed him with an inverted back breaker and then went for the pin. Edge was able to kick out at 2. Christian looked to the crowd for approval and then picked Edge back up and slammed him down again to the mat by his hair.
Christian picked him up again and powerslammed him down and then whaled away at his head. He picked up Edge and slammed his head into the top turnbuckle and again looked to the crowd. Christian nailed Edge with a knife-edge chop and then Edge came right out and nailed him right back with shots of his own until both men went down.
Edge got up first and went upstairs. Christian stopped him at the top and went for the superplex. Edge countered and tossed Christian off the ropes to his back. Edge got to his feet and went for a move and missed but landed on his feet and Christian went for the pin. Edge was cut open under his eye and Christian nailed him again and went for the pinfall
Edge was down and Christian flaunted to the crowd again. Edge got up and fought back and then both ran off the ropes and each collided in mid-air after attempted cross body blocks. Both men were down and Christian got to his feet first. Edge managed to get up and nailed Christian with the clothesline. He then grabbed Christian by the hair and slammed him down to the mat. Christian then went for his finisher and Edge countered and slammed him down for a 2-count.
Edge went to the outside and went under the ring. He came out and climbed to the top rope and nailed Christian when he got up with a cross body block from the top. Christian then nailed Edge with the Spear but could only manage to get a 2-count from the pin. Christian then went outside and grabbed two chairs and brought them into the ring.
Christian laid the chair under Edge’s head and then Edge got up and tried to do the attempted move on Christian, but the ref pulled the chair out of Edge’s hands as he was swinging. Christian then nailed Edge with a low blow and pinned his brother to capture the Intercontinental title.
Winner: Christian
The Coach interviewed Undertaker and Kane about Steven Richards and Kronik. Taker said Richards trying to remind everyone that he made the RTC break up, when everyone is trying to forget about that sorry group bothers him. Taker said they would take out Kronik tonight and retain the titles.
Match #4: WCW Tag Team Title Match
Undertaker & Kane vs. Kronik w/ Steven Richards
Adams and Undertaker went at it in the ring while Kane and Clark fought on the outside as well. Taker took it to Adams and whaled away at him in the corner. He whipped Adams into the corner and he got nailed with an elbow. Adams tried to follow up and Taker hit a drop toehold and then tagged in Kane.
Kane slammed Adams right away and went for a pin. He whipped Adams but it was countered and he nailed him with a straight elbow to the face. Adams nailed Kane in the head and then tagged in Clark. Clark kicked away at Kane in the corner and nailed him with a boot to the chest. He pinned him and got a 2-count and then whipped Kane off the ropes again. Kane ducked a clothesline and then nailed him with an inverted neck breaker.
Kane then nailed Clark with a shoulder breaker and went for the tag to Undertaker. Taker came in and nailed Clark with numerous short-arm shoulder blocks to the shoulder and then walked the top rope and nailed Clark like the old days. Clark got a desperation shot in and then tagged in Adams. He nailed Taker and went for a pin right away.
Taker whipped Adams and he countered and clotheslined Taker over the ropes to the outside. Kane then came over to help Taker and Clark ran over and attacked Kane from behind and Kronik double-teamed him. Taker got back in the ring and Adams got him in a headlock in the middle of the ring.
Adams nailed Taker with a scoop slam and then tagged in Clark. Taker was whipped off the ropes but he managed to nailed Clark with a DDT. He tagged in Kane and he came right in and nailed Clark with a boot to the face. Kane sidewalk slammed Clark and then went for the chokeslam. Adams broke the hold and they tried to double clothesline Kane, but he nailed them.
Kane threw Taker into Clark and Adams, who were in opposite corners. Taker then went for the chokeslam on Clark and Richards ran in to stop it. Taker punched in him the face and knocked him down. Kane then nailed Adams from the op and Taker hit the chokeslam on Clark. Taker pinned Clark and got the 3-count to retain the WCW Tag Titles. After the match, Kane chokeslammed Richards as he begged for mercy in the middle of the ring.
Winner(s): Undertaker & Kane
Booker T. and Shane were in the back saying that tonight they would bring the WCW title back to The Alliance where it belongs. Tazz then came in and said the title needed to be back in the Alliance. Tazz said that Stephanie said she could beat the Rock and that means Booker better be able to. Booker got mad and Tazz left.
Stephanie was then shown looking for Rob Van Dam in the backstage area. She found his locker room and was talking to him from outside of the door. Stephanie said that if he beats RVD Jericho then his membership in the Alliance would be a pleasurefull one. She then asked Rob was going to make her Birthday a special one and Jericho was shown standing behind her. He asked her how old she was going to be and she said 25. He said he wanted to know her age and not how many men she has been with this week. He then wished her the breast of luck for the night and left.
Match #5: WWF Hardcore Title Match
Rob Van Dam vs. Chris Jericho
Van Dam and Jericho got off to a slow start and Jericho got RVD in a hammerlock and forced him to the mat. Jericho hit an arm drag takedown and the pace of the match picked up quickly. They each countered each other several times in a row and then stood face-to-face to a huge pop from the crowd. Van Dam then went for a backslide and Jericho got free and nailed him with knife-edge chops.
RVD got a huge chant from the crowd after a series of near falls from each competitor. Jericho got up and slapped Van Dam in the face and then hit him with a Lou Thesz press and whaled away at his head. Jericho then hit the inzuguri and took RVD down. RVD then went to the corner and nailed Jericho with a spinning martial arts kick.
RVD threw Jericho out of the ring and then leaped over the ropes and nailed him with a cross body block. He followed up with a pin, but only got a 2-count. Van Dam then got on the ring apron and went for a spinning leg drop on Jericho, but missed and hit his leg on the guardrail.
Jericho pulled a ladder out from under the ring and slammed it down on RVD. They got back into the ring and another RVD chant broke loose from the crowd. Jericho slammed RVD into the ring apron and he then went back out and grabbed that ladder and pulled it into the ring. Jericho then grabbed Van Dam and suplexed his back onto the ladder.
RVD got up and Jericho went for another one, but Van Dam countered and hit the suplex on Jericho onto the steel ladder. Jericho whipped Van Dam off the ropes and RVD went for a dropkick. He missed and Jericho tried to get him in the Walls of Jericho, but RVD broke free and nailed Jericho with a splash. Van Dam then went for a moonsault and missed Jericho.
Jericho hit a bulldog on RVD and he got right up and nailed Jericho with a spinning heel kick. Van Dam then went upstairs and went for the frog splash and missed. Jericho then got the ladder again. He ran at RVD with the ladder and Van Dam executed a perfect drop toehold and made Jericho come down hard on his own ladder. RVD then set the ladder up in the corner and went outside to get a chair.
RVD hit Jericho with the chair and then scoop slammed him to the mat. He then set up the ladder and climbed to the top. Jericho got up and threw the chair and hit RVD in the head. Jericho climbed up and managed to get RVD in somewhat of a Tarantula across the top of the ladder. RVD looked to be in serious pain and he finally got free and fell down. RVD went outside of the ring and Jericho leaped off the ladder and missed him, hitting the guard railing.
RVD got back in the ring and as Jericho tried to get back in, RVD dropkicked him off the apron. RVD then went for a suicide dive through the ropes and missed Jericho and hit the floor. Jericho made his way over and made the pin but he only got a 2-count. Jericho kicked RVD in the side and then rolled Van Dam back into the ring. Jericho went for an inzuguri, but RVD countered and hit a spinning martial arts kick.
Jericho then got RVD in an armbar and then slammed RVD to the outside and ran him into the steel ring steps. Y2J got the chair and hammered RVD with it in the middle of the ring and the followed up with a straight shot to the small of the back.
Stephanie McMahon then ran down and got up on the ring apron. Jericho ran at her and knocked her off the ring apron. RVD hit the Van Daminator on Jericho when he turned around. RVD then went upstairs and hit a huge 5-star frog splash and pinned Jericho to retain his hardcore title.
Winner: Rob Van Dam
Booker T. was shown in the back saying he would be a 6-time, 6-time, 6-time WCW World Champion. He told Booker to stayed focused and when he walked away, Shane started to think about being WCW Champion for the first time and said he liked the way it sounded.
They then showed recaps of the events leading up to the WCW World Title handicap match.
Match #6: WCW World Title Handicap Match
The Rock vs. Booker T. & Shane McMahon
Rock came down to the ring and went to work on Booker T. right away. Shane then came in and took a cheap shot at the Champ and Rock chased him out of the ring. Booker and Rock were going at it and Shane nailed Booker. Both men then got in and The Rock took them both down with hard rights.
The Rock slammed Shane McMahon's head into the turnbuckle and then The Rock went off the ropes and Booker T kicked The Rock in the head to knock him down. Shane hammered away on The Rock with some right hands and elbow drops and then he made the tag to Booker T. Booker T kicked away on The Rock and then he picked him up and gave him a sidewalk slam and a pin for a two count. Booker T tagged Shane back into the match and the two double teamed The Rock. Shane gave The Rock some shots to the mid section and then he whipped The Rock but The Rock countered it and tossed Shane across the ring. He then nailed Booker T. Shane got up and gave The Rock a hard clothesline and then he started dancing around the ring and he gave The Rock some left hands.
Shane went for the right but The Rock blocked it and knocked Shane down and got him in the Sharpshooter but Booker T got in the ring. Shane and Booker T knocked The Rock to the outside of the ring and as Booker T distracted the referee, Shane McMahon hammered away on The Rock. Shane got on the security wall and he jumped off with a jumping clothesline on The Rock. Shane rolled The Rock into the ring and Booker T gave The Rock a hard right hand in the ring. Shane then pulled The Rock to the ring post, groin first.
The Rock then gave Booker T a DDT and a pin for a two count. Shane McMahon charged at The Rock to knock him down and then he did a nip up, shades of The Rock! Shane McMahon then set The Rock up for the people's elbow and The Rock nipped up and gave Shane a number of right hands. The Rock then gave Shane the Rock Bottom and then he got ready for Booker T and he gave him the spinebuster and then he set him up for the people's elbow! Test stormed to the ring and he nailed The Rock right in front of the referee and the referee did nothing about it. The Rock fell to the outside of the ring and Test gave him a big boot on the outside.
Bradshaw stormed to the ringside area with a weapon and he chased Test right out of the arena! The referee then picked The Rock up and put him back in the ring and Michael Chiota stormed to the ringside area and argued with Nick Patrick. Shane pinned The Rock for a one count and Michael Chiota pulled Shane out of the ring! Mike Chiota and Nick Patrick then argued on the outside of the ring and then Booker T pinned The Rock and Nick shoved Mike down and The Rock kicked out at two. Michael Chiota then stormed into the ring and he knocked Nick Patrick out of the ring and then Booker T nailed Chiota to knock him out of the ring.
Booker T then set The Rock up for the Book End but The Rock battled out of it with some elbows and then The Rock gave Booker T the Rock Bottom and then he pinned him, but there's no referee to count! Referee Earl Hebner came out and he counted the three count for The Rock. He retained his WCW World Title and kept the belt out of the Alliance.
Winner: The Rock
Tajiri and Torrie Wilson were shown talking to William Regal. They were asking permission for her to be with him during his match against Rhyno tonight. He said it would be alright and told them to run along.
Stacy Keibler was then shown at WWF New York and she was talking about shaving and then a clip was shown of her in the bathtub shaving her legs.
Match #7: WCW United States Title Match
Rhyno vs. Tajiri
Rhyno and Tajiri got the match started at a quick pace. Rhyno powerslammed Tajiri down and he played dead and then rolled up Rhyno and almost got an early pinfall. Rhyno whipped Tajiri off the ropes and he came back and nailed him with a stiff elbow. Rhyno fired back after he got up and crushed Tajiri with a spinebuster.
He continued to go to work on Tajiri and Torrie Wilson got up on the ring apron. Rhyno let go of Tajiri and he chased after her. She slipped in the ring on her heels and Rhyno got back and was going to Gore her. He ran at her to hit the move and Tajiri side swiped him with a super kick and then got him in the abdominal stretch and then locked him in the Tarantula.
Rhyno broke free and slammed down Tajiri and then set himself up for the Gore. Rhyno annihilated Tajiri with the move and pinned him to get the 3 and capture the United States title.
Winner: Rhyno
Match #8: WWF Championship Title Match
Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Kurt Angle
Kurt Angle got the upperhand in the match to begin and the two fought on the outside of the ring. They got back into the ring and Angle hit the Lou Thesz press and whaled away at Austin in the middle of the ring. Angle then got Austin on the top turnbuckle and punched away at him. They then made their way out of the ring once again and Angle slammed Austin’s head into the announcers’ table.
Back in the ring, Angle got Austin to the top again and went for a superplex, but Austin muscled him off. Angle followed up and executed the move finally and then went for the pin.
Austin got up and locked Angle in a sleeper hold. Angle dropped down and hit a jawbreaker on Austin to break the hold. Austin got up and Angle clotheslined him over the ropes to the outside. Austin grabbed the WWF Title and started to walk out. Angle ran up the aisle and nailed him from behind and stomped away at him at the top of the ramp.
Angle then grabbed Austin and tossed him off the ramp to the concrete floor below. Angle walked down below and proceeded to stomp away at Austin. He picked him up and threw blows at him near the front row of the crowd.
They made their way back to the ring and Angle threw Austin into the guard rail and then lifted up the protective mat on the outside, exposing the concrete floor. Austin got up and lifted the knee right in the back of Angle. Austin slammed Angle’s head into the table and then he got back into the ring, only to come right back out and continue to stomp away at the challenger.
Angle then managed to hit a desperation back body drop on Austin right onto the exposed floor. Angle then went for a piledriver on the concrete and Austin countered and back dropped Angle to the floor.
Austin then went back to work on Angle on the outside and slammed him stomach-first down on the Spanish announce table. Austin pulled him off the table and threw blows at him and then dropped him down across the table once again.
They got back into the ring and Austin took down Angle and dropped the straight elbow to his chest. Austin the proceeded to drop knees right to the back of Angle’s neck. Austin’s head was busted open by now and he continued to work over Angle in the corner and work on his neck.
Austin then got Angle in a headlock in the middle of the ring and again moved to the corner and worked on his neck. Angle broke free and nailed Austin with a series of Belly-to-Belly suplexes. Austin was down and Angle went up to hit a moonsault. Austin shook the ropes and Angle came down on the top turnbuckle on his nuts. Austin followed him up and back suplexed him to the mat.
Austin got a low blow on Angle and he rolled out of the ring while the referee scolded Austin. Austin followed him to the outside and brought him back in the ring. Austin got Angle in the corner yet again and worked over Angle. Austin pushed the referee down and Angle kicked him in the head and both men were down.
Angle came out of the corner and hit Austin with a DDT and he rolled to the outside of the ring and laid on the floor. Austin crawled back into the ring and Angle hit the Stone Cold Stunner on him and only got a 2-count.
Austin nailed Angle with a suplex and went for the pin. Austin got Angle up and piledrived him down and almost got the pin again. Austin set up for the Stunner and as he went for it, Angle countered and locked in the Ankle Lock. Austin tapped out and Kurt Angle captured the WWF Championship.
Winner: Kurt Angle, New WWF Champion Click
