(Thanks for assistance by Phil Simmons)

Pro Wrestling World 1 came to the ECW Arena yesterday afternoon as part of the doubleheader featuring the CZW fifth anniversary show before a crowd of about 300.

  • The Solution defeated Alex Law and Ricky Landell

  • Greg Spitz defeated Evan Myers

  • The Christopher Street Connection and Jason the Legend defeated Jack Victory, Guillotine LeGrande, and Mega with Jason using a piledriver to defeat LeGrande.

  • CZW Tag Team Champions Rebel's Army (Rebel and Greg Matthews) defeated Mark Mest and Johnny Rock (replacing the Backseat Boyz...more on that in the CZW results).

  • CM Punk defeated Rapid Fire Maldonado. These two appeared somewhat off at times, due in part to Maldonado working with an injured back. Punk was good-naturedly harassed met with "you're not Hero" (regarding Chris Hero) chants on his way to the ring from the IWA fan group that travels to shows at the ECW Arena.

The show up to this point was somewhat lackluster (although the last match was as good as Maldonado could make it under the circumstances). Things heated up considerably from this point forward.

  • Yoshihito Sasaki defeated Josh Daniels in a GREAT match. Daniels continues to impress as he has over the last year plus with this match featuring very crisp chops, clotheslines, and suplexes that I have seen in awhile. Both men had a great match and deserved the standing ovation they received.

  • Low Ki defeated Striker in another very good match. This was the best match I've ever seen Striker work. He usually works a standard old time babyface character or comedy character as in 3PW. It would have seemed impossible to follow Sasaki and Daniels, but they did more than that. Low Ki worked on the left shoulder that Striker "injured" the previous night in Pottstown. Low Ki won with the Dragon Clutch. Striker's chest was beet red after the match from Low Ki's chops.

  • Spanky defeated Homicide in yet another solid match. Spanky received loud "welcome back" chants as he came to the ring. Homicide was working with a flu...tough enough, but he still had to work a match MUCH later in the evening.

  • The Extreme Horsemen (C.W. Anderson and Simon Diamond) defeated The Extreme Horsemen (Steve Corino and PWF Champion Justin Credible) after Anderson won the match by pinning Corino with a Spinebuster.

  • In the main event, Masato Tanaka defeated Jerry Lynn to become the first Pro Wrestling World 1 Heavyweight Champion. This was an excellent finish to the show, with many near falls in this match including Tanaka kicking out of Lynn's cradle piledriver and Lynn kicking out after a Tanaka roaring elbow. However, Lynn was not able to kick out of the second roaring elbow and Tanaka got the pin for the victory and the title.
