CZW 7/24 Tournament of Death 3 Smyrna, DE results Posted by Bob Magee CZW returned Saturday, July 24th to Smyrna, DE for its third annual Tournament of Death before a crowd of upwards of 550 people.
The weather held on, to allow the show to take place despite all day rain just 30 miles south of the show location, and threats earlier in the week of thundershowers that would have caused considerable prolems for the show.
First round matches:
The first match of the first round featured IWS/Canada talent as Arsenal beat Evil Ninja #2 in a 2 out of 3 (Light Tube) Log Cabins death match
Nick Gage defeated Ruckus in a barbed wire board deathmatch
In the first of the Fans Bring The Weapons matches, The Wifebeater defeated Mad Man Pondo.
Sexxy Eddy defeated Ian Knoxx in a Thumb Tack and Tack Strips deathmatch
The Necro Butcher defeated IWS's Green Phantom in the second Fans Bring The Weapons death match
In one of the sickest matches of the day's show, JC Bailey defeated Chris Cash in a light tubes and ladders death match.Cash again stood out for CZW in one of their major shows as he busted his ass and took some incredible bumps
Second round matches
Sexxy Eddy of IWS defeated Arsenal in a light tubes death match that saw light tubes fastened horizontally on the ropes (think like a barbed wire rope match) along with tubes piled up in the corners. Arsenal nailed Sexxy Eddy in the face with a trashcan with vicious shots a number of times which was sick to see live.. At one point in the match, Sexxy Eddy was cut in the arm, and presumably hit an artery, with a stream of blood coming up about 2 feet from his arm.
Post match, Eddy walked around showing the three puncture wounds to fans and even sprayed blood into his mouth. Even though he won, he was not able to continue to the final and was taken to a local hospital via ambulance. Sexxy Eddy came to the ring post-match with Zandig, was put over by Zandig, and was told he'd be brought back for the September 11th afternoon CZW show in Philadelphia at the ECW Arena.
Wifebeater defeated JC Bailey in another Fans Bring The Weapons deathmatch after slamming Bailey off the cab off a pick up with about 500 tubes in the bed. Think of 10 minutes of two men beating the crap out of each other, and you'll have an idea of what this match was like.
The Necro Butcher defeated "Hardcore" Nick Gage in a Panes of Glass death match
Tournament of Death final/main event
The rain that had been threatening all day finally came, although light...CZW staff scarmbled to get everything set up, fearing a repeat of Tournament of Death 1 where their main event saw a rainstorm.
The main event saw a sort of Double Hell set-up, with 2 fences set up between the apron and the guardrails, one with barbedwire and one with about 50 tubes on it. The ring is just filled with endless lighttubes and the rest of the weapons.
Wifebeater defeated The Necro Butcher in the main event to win Tournament of Death 3. The first five minutes saw both Wifebeater and Necrobutcher beating the hell out of each other. Wifebeater thenB suplexes Necro onto the lighttube fence contraption. They move out into the crowd and onto the Truck. At this time it begins to rain harder, which may have seen them go to the finish early, which saw Wifebeater put Necrobutcher off the top of a truck through tables with a pane of glass on them set on fire (thus the reason for hurrying), and pinning Necrobutcher outside the ring to win Tournament of Death 3.
